Camp Victory 2014

Camp Victory returns to Houston once more. Join top US and International fencers and coaches in this training session before US Fencing’s Summer Nationals.  The director of this camp is US Fencing’s Director of Foil, Mauro Hamza.

Cost $675, with a $200 non-refundable deposit due on registration.( register by May 1st to receive $25 discount)

 CAMP DIRECTORClub founder and Head Coach Mauro Hamza, originally from Cairo, established Salle Mauro in 1999 in Houston. He is Fencing Program Coordinator at Rice University. Under his leadership, the U.S. Junior Men’s Foil team won the 2011 World Championship in Baku, Jordan while the U.S. Junior Women’s team took home silver from Baku. Coach Mauro has developed numerous national champions and worked with many top fencers from around the world.

Coaching Staff:

Currently ranked 8th in the world for Senior Men’s Foil, Aspro placed 6th individually at the London Olympics and fenced on the gold medal Italian Men’s Foil Team. He won silver at the 2011 World Championships in individual and silver at the 2010 World Championships in team. He won the Junior World Championship in 2006. This will be Aspro’s 4th camp with us, we’re happy to be continuing the excellence.

Ranked 7th in the world Has taken Team gold in the 2013 World championships as well as European championships individual bronze and team gold in the 2011 and 2010 world military games. She has medaled at the U23 European Games and Italian Championships. She has won the Italian Junior Championship twice, and taken bronze in the Senior Championship twice as well. This will be Carolina’s 3rd camp with us, so let’s welcome her back!

Edouard Dumont
He is the head coach for ISSY Musketeer in Paris ,France.He has been working in Camp Victory for the past 7 years.He developed several Cadet and Junior French National team members.Many of them won cadet and junior world cups and medaled in Cadet/Junior world Championships.

Ahmed is Salle Mauro’s newest coach. He was a regular member of the Great Britain senior fencing team until his move to the US in 2013. In his successful fencing career in the UK he was national foil champion at all three levels (cadet, junior and senior) and represented his country at European and World Championships

Dan Gorman is full-time coach at Salle Mauro, where he teaches classes and private lessons in saber, foil, and epee. His students have achieved top rankings in regional and national United States Fencing Association tournaments. He started fencing at Purdue University and went on to coach the fencing club at Texas A&M.

As a foil competitor in Egypt during the ’90s, Noura Younis earned a place on the national women’s foil team over several years. She has won numerous gold medals at national and international competitions. At Salle Mauro, she focuses on future fencers, working with students to develop a solid foundation of footwork, right of way, sportsmanship, and discipline for their future competitive careers.
